On Sunday, June 15, Kymera Press held a launch party in Studio City, California. Like all party-givers, Maggie and I were nervous no one would show up. After all, it was Father’s Day, not the best day to be holding a party.
We needn’t have worried. The party was well attended, even though many of the invitees didn’t receive their Evites! As the number of people swelled, I was asked when I was going to give my talk. My what?
I was ill-prepared, but I am passionate about what Kymera Press is all about, so I told the crowd about how Gates of Midnight and Kymera Press came to be. Everyone seemed impressed with our mission to promote women writers and artists in comics.
The crowd was split, however, on which of our future projects we should do next. Toni Adams, who wrote up a great article about the party at http://fangirlnation.com/2014/06/16/kymera-press-launch-party-for-gates-of-midnight/ votes for Pen Noir, based on a book by Pati Nagle. Dennis Etchison, award-winning horror writer, advises we go with the Victorian women horror writers, while Robin Russell, editor for Fallen Skies and Jennifer Tait, formerly of Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, want to see Furious in comic book form.
What is your vote? Go to our website at KymeraPress.com and read about our future projects. Which one interests you the most?
So the party was a great success. Barbara Hambly, who co-wrote the original GATES OF MIDNIGHT television pilot with me was there…
as was my dear friend Lara Parker, an actress best known for her role as Angelique on the cult ABC-TV serial Dark Shadows.
Also attending was Christie Shinn, the graphic artist who created the credits and dedication pages for issue one of Gates of Midnight, shown here with Lee Lakso…
and Tommy McLoughlin, the Director and Producer of our Kickstarter project video which features my small screen acting debut.
Everyone left with a Kymera Press tote as a thank you gift.
Now we just need to make our Kickstarter goal so we can do as many other projects as possible. Please check us out at:

Back us if you can. Spread the word to everyone you know. Post it on your Facebook page; tweet about it. We need the help of our friends to make this venture work.
Thank you to everyone who attended our party and thank you to everyone who is backing us. We can’t do this without your help.
